I often get so wrapped up in the gift-giving traditions of Christmas that I sometimes overlook the value of experiences during this time of year. Gift-giving is my love language; there’s nothing quite like the joy I feel when I see someone’s face light up at the sight of a gift I know they’ll love. Whether it’s a simple $1 find or something more extravagant, the act of giving and seeing the happiness it brings is truly heartwarming.
This sentiment extends to my boys as well. While I adore gifting them toys and treasures, I also make a point to focus on experiences. Sure, they’ll eventually outgrow Paw Patrol, Legos, and dinosaurs, but the memories we create together will last a lifetime. Alongside those cherished toys, I want them to remember the special moments—beach days, ice skating, summer camps, sports, road trips to visit cousins, and weeklong family vacations. These experiences become the backdrop of their childhood and enrich their lives far beyond any gift.
I want to show them the world.
Every day brings its own unique adventures. Some days, our outings are simple neighborhood walks, while other times we’re exploring the wonders of Disney World. We’ve worked hard to reach this point in our lives and feel incredibly blessed for what we have. We never take it for granted and always strive to give back whenever we can.
Hubs and I have always had a zest for adventure. We thrive on traveling to new destinations, revisiting familiar favorites, and enjoying concerts and shows. Our greatest joy now is sharing this adventurous spirit with our children.
We’re dedicated to giving the boys a rich tapestry of experiences. That’s why we create seasonal bucket lists—to make sure we’re constantly exploring and making memories. We’re already diving into our winter list and loving every moment of it.
What are some of your favorite experiences? Do you have any adventures on your bucket list?
Happy Holidays!
