I’m sorry for the lack of posts the last couple weeks. I’ve been having a time gettingI apologize for the recent radio silence on the blog. The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of disorganization. With our home on the market, it feels like we’ve been stuck in limbo for over a month. The uncertainty of showings, potential closing dates, and the constant juggling act of maintaining a show-ready home has made planning anything—especially meals—nearly impossible. Seeing other homes list and sell just adds to the stress and frustration.
One of the areas where I’ve really fallen behind is meal planning. My relationship with Door Dash is complicated—part love, part frustration. To shake things up and bring some fun back into cooking, I decided to introduce themed dinner nights. I wanted themes that were broad enough to include all our favorite foods but specific enough to keep us from feeling overwhelmed by endless options.
In my search for themed dinner ideas, I found a plethora of suggestions—everything from chicken and slow cookers to seafood and casseroles. The options were endless!
Here’s what we’ve settled on:
- Soup or Sandwich: A cozy choice for cooler days.
- Mexican: Think tacos, enchiladas, and burritos.
- Meat and Veggies: Simple, satisfying, and versatile.
- Breakfast for Dinner: Pancakes, bacon, eggs—comfort food at any hour.
- Kid’s Choice / Takeout / Dinner Out: Letting the kids pick their favorites or enjoying a break from cooking.
- Grilling: Perfect for a sunny day—steak, burgers, and more.
- Pizza: A family favorite that’s always a hit.
These themes work well for us and include a range of options like chili, tacos, burgers, sub sandwiches, spaghetti, and more. “Kid’s Choice” ensures that my little one gets his beloved corndogs, too.
How do you tackle meal planning and make it fun? I’d love to hear your strategies and ideas!
