I recently came across an incredible graphic by @positivelypresent (definitely check her out on Facebook or Instagram for daily inspiration) that shared some invaluable advice she wished she’d known in high school. It really got me thinking about how impactful such guidance could be for both current high schoolers and recent graduates.
A few pieces of advice particularly resonated with me:
- Trust your intuition
- Make and forgive mistakes
- Practice setting boundaries
- Learn to save money
- Find healthy ways to cope
- Center friendship, not romance
Choosing just a few highlights from this list was tough because each point is so meaningful. As a teenager, I could have benefited immensely from any of these insights. I selected these specific pieces of advice because they reflect areas where I could have made more thoughtful choices that might have enriched my life back then.
That said, it’s a bit of a paradox. If I’d made different choices, I wouldn’t be where I am today, and I genuinely love my life as it is now. My journey was filled with detours and challenges, but I made it through.
What about you? What advice would you give your high school self?
