Animal Kingdom Lodge – June 2024

There’s something truly enchanting about Animal Kingdom Lodge—it has a way of making you feel right at home.

The moment you step into the lobby of Jambo House, you’re greeted by a delightful blend of spices and campfire scents that wrap around you like a warm embrace. One of my favorite little joys is walking down the Kudu Trail (or the Zebra Trail on our last visit), transitioning from the soft carpet of the hallway to the cool, tiled lobby, and inhaling that irresistible fragrance. I often wish I could bottle it up and bring it home, to spray whenever I’m missing Disney—though, let’s be honest, that’s pretty much all the time.

On our first day, we were welcomed by a charming sight right inside the front door: a lady demonstrating medallion rubbings. It was such a fascinating and cool experience! We checked in using the My Disney Experience app, and to our delight, our room was ready early. We were able to use our MagicBands to head straight to our room, skipping the check-in lines entirely.

Our savannah-view room was, as always, a highlight of our stay. Watching the giraffes, zebras, kudu, and ostriches was a continuous source of joy. The zebra, in particular, provided endless entertainment as it playfully chased the other animals around—a true comedic spectacle.

Animal Kingdom Lodge truly has its own special magic, and we felt it every moment of our stay.

With just one park day on this quick two-night getaway, we made the most of our time by exploring all that Animal Kingdom Lodge had to offer. We arrived early on Thursday and headed straight to Pumbaa’s Arcade. The kids had a blast playing the games and trying out the photo booths, while I took a well-deserved break in the soothing massage chair.

We also spent a lot of time at the resort’s stunning pool, which was the perfect blend of beauty and comfort. The pool’s small water slide quickly became a favorite for the kids, who rode it over and over with gleeful energy. Despite the early June heat, we made sure to slather on sunscreen and kept our pool sessions short to stay safe. The boys seem to tan nicely without burning (lucky for them, since they don’t share my fair Irish skin), but we weren’t taking any chances.

Animal Kingdom Lodge has a way of making even a brief stay feel magical, and we soaked up every bit of its charm.

While waiting for dinner one evening, we took a leisurely stroll along the animal trails around Animal Kingdom Lodge. The resort’s lush grounds were alive with vibrant wildlife—flamingos gracefully gliding by, zebras playfully mingling with giraffes, and a variety of other birds adding their own charm. It’s amazing how much there is to discover both inside and outside of Jambo House.

And of course, no Disney trip is complete without indulging in some delectable treats from A New Hope Confections. Their box of chocolate goodness is a must-have and a perfect way to add a touch of sweetness to your Disney adventure. If this isn’t part of your Disney plans, you’re definitely missing out on a magical experience!

If you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World, I can’t recommend Animal Kingdom Lodge enough. It offers a truly magical, immersive experience that’s both beautiful and serene. From the moment you arrive, you’re enveloped in the lodge’s unique charm, surrounded by breathtaking views and the enchanting sounds of wildlife. It’s a place where every detail adds to the wonder and creates memories that will stay with you long after you’ve left.
