Dining with Kids: Boma (Animal Kingdom Lodge)

I’ve touched on Boma in my Magical Mini-Vacation post from our October trip, but I’m excited to dive deeper into our recent experiences there, especially since we enjoyed dinner at this incredible restaurant twice during our June visit.

Boma is known for its ever-changing menu, but you can always count on some delicious staples. One of the highlights is the rotating selection of peanut rice and coconut rice—both of which are absolutely fantastic. Normally, I skip the plain options like rice or potatoes at buffets to make room for more unique dishes, but I’d gladly make an exception for a mountain of Boma’s peanut or coconut rice.

The carving station is always a hit, and during our visits, it featured succulent beef each evening. Alongside the beef, we enjoyed perfectly crispy fried chicken and tender ribs slathered in a mouthwatering turmeric barbecue sauce. For seafood lovers, there was also a delectable salmon dish available each night.

Overall, Boma continues to impress with its flavorful and diverse offerings, making it a must-visit dining spot on our Disney adventures.

Boma never fails to impress with its array of delicious soups, side dishes, and cold salads. The couscous, tabbouleh, chickpea salad, and cauliflower salad were all standouts, offering a refreshing and flavorful variety. The spiced green beans were particularly memorable, delivering a perfect blend of seasoning and crispness.

I must admit, I indulged a bit too much in the chicken and corn chowder—it’s simply irresistible! The chilled bowls of avocado, guava, and papaya salad were incredibly refreshing and a highlight of the meal. And let’s not forget the bobotie, a savory South African dish, along with an assortment of fresh breads and creamy hummus.

With so many mouthwatering options to choose from, Boma truly offers a feast that delights every palate.

Boma truly offers a feast that caters to all tastes, including those of our little ones. Boy1, our adventurous eater, eagerly sampled a wide range of meats, sides, and salads—though he also enjoyed some kid-friendly favorites like mac and cheese. Boy2, who is a bit pickier, stuck to corn dog bites, pasta with marinara, fried chicken, and beef. Both boys couldn’t get enough of the fresh fruits and delectable desserts. There’s definitely something for every palate, from the most adventurous to the more selective eaters.

Speaking of desserts, the options were nothing short of indulgent. We savored hazelnut iced brownies, Madagascar vanilla bean cheesecake, zebra domes, apple tarts, passionfruit custard, and bread pudding with vanilla sauce. For those who prefer classic sweets, there were also assorted cookies and cupcakes. Plus, the dessert offerings change regularly, so there’s always a chance to discover something new.

Hubs and I enjoyed some cocktails with our dinner—I had a spicy poblano margarita that was absolutely amazing, while he opted for a honey bourbon drink.

We also took advantage of a 10% discount with our Disney Rewards Visa debit card. It’s a fantastic deal, especially if you already have a Chase checking account, as you can easily convert your regular debit card to a Disney debit card. This allows you to enjoy discounts on dining, merchandise, and even vacation packages.

If you’ve dined at Boma, I’d love to hear what your favorite item on the buffet was!
