When it comes to packing school lunches, creativity and practicality are key. Today, I had the pleasure of preparing a delightful and nutritious lunch for Boy1, while Boy2 opted for a trusty Lunchable. I thought it would be fun to share a peek into our lunchtime routine, especially since Boy1’s bento box turned out to be a whimsical and tasty masterpiece!
Our bento box is more than just a container; it’s a canvas where each compartment tells its own delicious story. For today’s lunch, I filled the bento box with a colorful assortment of fruits, cookies, and a special treat: bat-shaped sandwiches!

I started by slicing up a crisp apple and cutting grapes in half. Apples are a great choice because they’re not only nutritious but also easy to eat when sliced. Grapes, on the other hand, are sweet and refreshing, and cutting them in half ensures they’re safer and easier for Boy1 to enjoy (he has some issues with chewing and swallowing – he’s working on this with his occupational therapist). To add a touch of sweetness, I included a few mini Oreo cookies.
Now for the highlight of the lunch: bat-shaped sandwiches! Using our handy sandwich cut and seal tool, I turned ordinary sandwiches into little bat-shaped delights. This tool is fantastic because it not only cuts the bread into fun shapes but also seals the edges, keeping the fillings snug and fresh. Boy1’s eyes lit up when he saw these creative sandwiches, and it’s a great way to add a bit of fun to his lunch.

The bento box not only includes a fun shape but also balances nutrition with a bit of indulgence. The bat-shaped sandwiches are filled with protein, while the fruits provide vitamins, and the cookies offer a sweet treat. Everything is neatly organized to make the lunch both appealing and practical.
Preparing Boy1’s food is always a bit of an adventure because he enjoys everything, and today’s bento box was a perfect example of how to make a nutritious meal fun and engaging. With the combination of tasty bat-shaped sandwiches, easy-to-eat fruit, and a touch of cookie goodness, his lunch was ready to bring a smile to his face.
